Trailer: For Anyone With A Job

Updated: Jul 28, 2023

For Anyone With A Job (#ForAnyoneWithAJob) is a refreshingly honest and darkly fun podcast that examines how to talk about mental health at work. Hosted by Heather Bodie, a Chicago-based Public Speaker, Artist, and Mental Health Advocate - the episodes vary in style and range from expert interviews to Moth-style story telling.

Episode Transcript

Heather: Imagine you’re giving an important presentation at work. It’s been stressing you out for weeks. And as you speak there’s a growing tightness in your chest. You’re struggling to breathe evenly… the anxiety is mounting and your scared that it’s about to eat your head. Is this what a panic attack feels like? Are you having a heart attack? What do you do about it? How do you explain what's going on?

The next day you’re just on your way to lunch and see a co-worker crying in the hall. Do you say something? Is it better to just focus on the work… and pretend this all isn’t happening–every day, in boardrooms, cubicles, restaurant kitchens?

That’s why this podcast is literally “For Anyone with A Job”. I want to go beyond “It’s okay to not be okay,” which it is and ask, “what do we do about it?”

I’m your host Heather Bodie, And, as someone who lives with anxiety, depression, and a wicked case of ADHD, I’m on a mission to unravel the yuck, lift some of the fear and stigma, and arm you with tools to talk productively about mental health at work.

I’ll introduce you to experts with strategies for managing mental health - like the kind of stuff that you can use right now. I’ll unpack some real-life work scenarios - sent in by our listeners. And even share some personal tales—and I promise it’s okay to laugh.

You don’t have to be an expert to talk about mental health at work. But you DO have to practice, build the muscles, develop new language. We can do it. And we will be better for it. So, let’s take a deep breath and get started.
